Michele Goldberg and her son, Cameron, enjoying a camel ride
Imagine this:
You’re walking with your family in the warm afternoon sun of mid-May in Virginia. Your children dance to high-energy pop music from a live band. As you wander past the stage, you smile and pat your shopping bag, so glad you found those earrings in the Art Expo—your mother will love them. In fact, you think, maybe you should go back and look for something for your father-in-law. Isn’t his birthday coming up?
Later, you sip a fresh fruit smoothie as you browse ceramics, wood, sculpture and glass from local and international vendors. As you bend down to examine a remarkable piece of art, your thoughts are interrupted by the kids’ asking permission to ride the camels—they’re voices are still breathless and full of laughter from their time in the inflatable bounce house.
As they run off toward the camel rides, your spouse remarks on how much fun they’re having: without a tv, iPad or smart phone in sight. You feel yourself relax just a little more, and decide to treat yourself to some shwarma and a cold beer—you deserve it.
Sound too good to be true? You can have it all and more at the Simon Family JCC’s Israel Fest, Sunday May 17.
Israel Fest is the third of four events in the Simon Family JCC’s Celebrate Israel Series, presented by Charles Barker Automotive. Part concert, part outdoor fair, part petting zoo, and part shopping extravaganza, Israel Fest promises to be fun for the whole family.
We’ll see you at the JCC on May 17th between 11a.m. and 5 p.m.! (You’ll also be able to buy your tickets for our closing Celebrate Israel event, David Broza Live at the Sandler Center the following Thursday, May 21st.)
