Dear Simon Family JCC Friends,

We hope you and your loved ones are well and staying healthy in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While our physical doors are temporarily closed during these challenging times, the JCC’s leaders and staff are re-imagining and transforming the services we offer you, our valued members – opening instead brand new virtual windows and doors. Online, we already have a variety of classes and sessions to improve your wellbeing – physically, mentally, and emotionally. We have programs designed for staying fit, for connecting with each other, and for keeping us entertained. Please click here to see what’s available, and check back often as we are updating almost daily.

Please know how much we value you and your membership. With members like you, the JCC has provided for our community since 1952. As a non-profit agency, we have a long history in Tidewater and are committed to serving and strengthening our community for many years to come. During these turbulent times, we ask you to maintain your membership with the Simon Family JCC. Your membership will help us continue to provide services, pay staff, and maintain our facility. Please stick with us and take advantage of our virtual, online options until we are able to reopen our physical doors. We need you!

To best serve you during these difficult times, we are offering several options to maintain your membership:
• Continue your current membership with no changes.
• Convert your membership to a tax-deductible charitable donation. When we are open again, your donation will return to your regular membership dues.
• Freeze your membership and not be charged until our physical doors are open again. There will be no reactivation fee.

If you choose to change your membership status, please e-mail jcc_billing@simonfamilyjcc.org or call 757-321-2338 by Sunday, April 5. If we don’t hear from you, we thank you and regular billing will take place on Monday, April 6.

Your membership and support of the Simon Family JCC is appreciated each and every day. Being a JCC member presents a diverse and engaging experience. Even as we are physically closed, we continue to explore ways to serve the community, engage together, and deliver a unique experience for all.

There is no blueprint or guidebook for this situation. The best we can do is work together, be good to one another, and look forward to once again taking advantage of our beautiful facility. Stay well, keep safe.

Dear Members,

No manual or guidebook exists for this unprecedented situation. Together, we are learning and trying to absorb as much information as possible about COVID-19, while we are making decisions on a day-by-day and sometimes on an hour-by-hour basis.

In order to keep us safe and healthy, the Simon Family Jewish Community Center has made the decision to remain closed to the public at this time. But, we’re using the time to grow our virtual experiences for you.

Although we can’t offer in-person fitness classes and training, for example, we have developed a series of videos and will soon offer sessions on Facebook Live, Zoom, and through our website. A schedule will be emailed and posted here within the next few days.

We are also creating special Facebook groups for myriad programs, including Shalom Baby.

Cultural Arts programming, PJ Library, and Kids Connection are and will be offering links to hear books read and to engage with new ideas. Click here.

We plan to update you often on the JCC’s virtual programs, classes, and resources and hope that you’ll take advantage of them.

While we continue to maintain our physical distance from each other, let’s make every effort to stay safe and keep in touch – virtually, of course.

Have a good weekend and Shabbat Shalom!

Your health is our priority.

In response to COVID-19, the Simon Family JCC will close at 6 pm today, Sunday, March 15 through Sunday, March 22.

Like other fitness and cultural organizations, businesses, and individuals around the globe, the Simon Family JCC is closely monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation.

In the best interest of our members and the broader community – given this unprecedented public health concern – we will close the Simon Family JCC for the coming week, beginning at 6 pm today. We will make a decision about the immediate future no later than Friday, March 20.

In the meantime, we plan to increase our online activity, including offering some online fitness classes. We will share updates with you through email, social media, and on our website.

Please know that we are working to act responsibly on the myriad information available from trusted health officials at the CDC, WHO, all levels of government, and, as a Jewish Community Center, from the JCC Association of North America.

We will continue to monitor the situation and reevaluate as needed, and look forward to reopening as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your support, encouragement, and membership. Please stay healthy and safe.
