Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for camp?
Camper registration is online and parents will need to create an account for our parent dashboard if they have not done so already. Once you have set up an account and answered a few questions, you will then be prompted to select which weeks you would like to come to camp. After selecting these options, parents will find a dashboard of necessary forms. Some may be due initially while others may be due at a later date. Parents will need to select “submit enrollment request” to register. After submitting a request, parents will get an email and a screen confirming their request. Your application will then be reviewed and processed before your enrollment is complete.

Do we need to pay in full now?

No. A deposit of 25% is required to reserve your place in camp with the remainder of the payment being due on June 1, 2021.

What if we need to switch or add weeks?

Please contact a member of our camp team and we will be happy to assist you.

What if we need to cancel?

All cancellations must be in writing 14 days prior to the start of camp or said session to be eligible for a refund. All deposits are non-refundable and a canceled session is only eligible for a 75% refund. We are unable to reduce fees due to absence, regular illness, family matters, holidays (including Juneteenth and July 4), vacations, or forces of nature.

What is JCC Membership and the JCC Member price?

Becoming a member of the Simon Family JCC is much more than signing up for a health club or wellness center. This is a place where you will feel welcomed and supported no matter what your physical, educational or social goals. Every person in our community is a critical component to the JCC.

To receive Camp JCC member pricing, one must have a current family or single parent membership at the time of enrollment through their camper’s registered weeks. Learn more about JCC membership and how to join.

What discounts are available?

2021 Special: Register between November 26 and December 31, 2021, and receive a $20 discount per camper per week on any number of weeks.

Early Bird Special: Register for 5 or more weeks between January 1, 2022, and March 31, 2022, and receive $20 off per week.

Sibling Discount: If two or more children from the same family membership are registered for the same week, families receive a discount of $25 per child for every child after the first enrollee.

Do you offer financial assistance?

Financial assistance is available as the JCC strives to ensure that no child is denied a camp experience.

Who is eligible for financial assistance?

Financial assistance is available to current Simon Family JCC members in good standing in order to be considered for financial assistance. Any past due balances must be paid in full before a financial aid application can be processed.

If you are not currently a member of the Simon Family JCC, you may become a member of the Simon Family JCC at any time.

Please note that Camp JCC membership rates require a family or single parent membership valid from the time of application through their campers’ registered weeks.

How do you apply for financial assistance?

As you begin registering for camp, please select the option that you are interested in applying for financial aid. You will then be asked to go through the enrollment process. On the forms section, you will see instructions and our downloadable Financial Assistance application. Please download this form, complete it, and submit it by April 15, 2022. From there, please complete the rest of your application, including entering your credit card, and click through to “Submit Enrollment Request.” Provided that you selected the option at the beginning of the application indicating that you are interested in applying for financial aid, your card will not be charged when you submit your enrollment.

After you submit your enrollment request, you will receive an automated email confirming that we received your camper’s enrollment request. As the financial assistance request processing does not happen until April, your child’s enrollment request will be placed in a pending category with their spot in Camp JCC reserved. Once an offer of financial assistance is extended to and is accepted by you, your credit card will then be charged accordingly, and your child will be enrolled in camp. If we do not receive your financial aid application on time or if we do not hear back from you regarding an offer of financial assistance, your child may lose their reserved spot in Camp JCC.

Financial Assistance applications are due on April 15, 2022.

The financial assistance applications are reviewed by the Financial Aid committee and are awarded on funds available at the time of review. The Simon Family JCC does not award 100% assistance.

What protocols will Camp JCC use to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19?

Camp JCC will adhere to the best practices and recommendations by the CDC, American Camping Association, and the Virginia Department of Health. We will update this section with specific guidelines and practices during the spring of 2022 that are current to the situation.

What about food?

Camp JCC, located on the Sandler Family Campus, is a Kosher facility. This means that all food served at camp is Kosher and properly labeled as such.

Campers must bring a kosher-style and nut-free lunch to camp. Kosher-style means no pork products, nor mixing meat and dairy products in the same food item.

Camp JCC will provide campers with two snacks daily (three for those doing PM Care). Parents are welcome to send extra kosher-style nut-free snacks in their campers’ lunch boxes.

Camp JCC is allergy aware and nut free. This means that while products containing nuts will never be served, we cannot prevent all potential exposures. We ask that all food items brought to camp are nut-free. For the safety of everyone, campers may not share food with each other.

Do you go swimming?

Yes, we do! Campers in groups up to entering 4th grade will have both instructional and recreational swim each day (weather permitting). Older groups will have the opportunity to swim each day, schedule and weather permitting.
