Centered on the idea that everybody has something to learn, and everybody has something to teach, Yom Limmud is an afternoon of learning, bringing people together of all backgrounds and ages to help nurture, mentor, and celebrate Jewish life and learning.

People of all ages and religious orientations are invited to join us to learn about a variety of topics focused on Jewish art, texts, food, literature or Israeli politics, technology, culture, or any other Jewish or Israel-related topic.

In addition to two general sessions, two 45-minute breakout sessions will be held. If you are interested in presenting a breakout session, please fill out this form. As well as straightforward lectures and discussions, there are a whole variety of types of sessions – workshops, panels, debates, art classes, music jam sessions – and specific session tracks, such as introduction sessions, advanced sessions, and so on.

If you are interested in presenting a session or two, you will need to submit a proposal, which can be done by clicking here.  The cost is $18 for attendees and presenters because we believe everyone has something to learn, and everyone has something to teach.

There will be two 45 minute sessions available to present. You can choose to present at one, or both on the same topic or two different ones.

That is impossible to tell. The best way to encourage people to attend your session is to make sure that the titles and descriptions which you provide for the program are interesting and attractive to the attendees. Having said that, if you want to restrict the numbers attending for some other reason, please indicate so on the session proposal form.

Participants come from across the entire Jewish spectrum in terms of background, experience, and knowledge. So as not to exclude anyone, we recommend that handouts be accessible to those with a limited knowledge of Hebrew and texts, and that you supply Hebrew texts in translation wherever possible. If a particular session does require more advanced knowledge in a particular area, or proficiency in Hebrew, please indicate this clearly on the session proposal form! 

There is space on the session proposal form to notify us of any resources you require. With that being said, we will get back to you as to our ability to meet your needs.

Yom Limmud is committed to a more ecological and sustainable world for now and the future. We would prefer only to provide handouts where participants will need to refer to the handout to follow the session or where there is material which cannot be presented on a screen. If you can bring your own copies with you that would be enormously helpful. If not, we can arrange to have handouts copied, where a handout is necessary for the session, but we would ask that if at all possible you provide this in advance, to Melissa Eichelbaum at meichelbaum@ujft.org, by November 8, 2017. After that date we will do our best to help, but are not able to commit.
